QUEZON CITY, Philippines (JPR) — Skywatchers and astronomy enthusiasts gathered at the National Science Complex Amphitheater in UP Diliman Wednesday morning to witness planet Venus’ transit between the Earth and the sun.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the “Transit of Venus” is so rare that it has only occurred 8 times since the invention of the telescope.

The “Transit of Venus” public observation event titled “Rekindling Venus” was organized by the UP Astronomical Society, UPLB Astronomical Society, RTU Astronomy Society and the Australian Embassy Manila.
