MANILA, Philippines (JPR) — The Manila Cathedral, also known as the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, in Intramuros has been closed to the public since February 7 for major repairs.

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Tagle ordered the closure of the cathedral after an evaluation revealed that the cathedral has several structural integrity issues.

The Manila Archdiocese has designated the San Fernando de Dilao Church in Paco, Manila as its temporary “official church.”
