MANILA, Philippines (JPR) — Hundreds of Filipino Catholics flocked to Intramuros in Manila on Sunday, December 1, to witness the annual grand Marian procession featuring more than 100 images of the Blessed Virgin from across the country.

The annual event, now on its 34th year, is organized by the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion Foundation and the Intramuros Administration.

The Marian procession aims to revive the centuries-old tradition, which dates back to 1619, started by the Spanish in Manila to mark the Catholic feast of the Immaculate Conception celebrated every December 8.
